Oprah has a super-power, and you can have it, too.
Thankfulness is a magic power available to everyone.
No matter where you live…
No matter what you drive…
No matter your health…
No matter your education…
No matter how much money is in your bank account…
No matter if you’re single, married, divorced, or widowed…
You can be thankful.
“Be thankful for what you have;
you’ll end up having more.
If you concentrate on what you don’t have,
you will never, ever have enough.”
Here’s the secret that most people don’t talk about: Being thankful isn’t something you feel before you express. Thankfulness is something you express in order to feel.
Sure, there are moments in life when gratitude wells up inside of me because of positive life circumstances. I feel the wave coming, and I ride it as long as I can. But…sometimes it doesn’t well up. Sometimes, I’m experiencing life’s choppy waters, and I’d rather focus what didn’t go the way I wanted. I’d rather sit in those feelings of funkiness and feel sorry for myself and blame others.
The truth is that focusing on what I don’t have or what I didn’t experience isn’t going to produce what I want. It’s only going to cause me to remain STUCK!
If I want to get unstuck, I must ask myself…what am I thankful for?
Sometimes, I’ll even open up social media and post it for the world to see, and the craziest thing starts to happen. Other people start liking and commenting on it. There’s something powerful about others affirming what I’m thankful for. It reinforces my choice to be thankful, and I actually start feeling it! (My guess is that it causes them to be thankful, too.)
So…my question for you is…what are you thankful for? Post in the comments below so that we can celebrate with you!
