Isn’t it interesting that some people find themselves on the Downward Spiral of Death over and over again? It’s like they’re a magnet to catastrophes, financial challenges, health issues, and relationship struggles over and over and over again. What is it about people that keep drawing these negative experiences into their lives?
In large part, I believe it starts in our minds.

Here’s What I Know: Positive thoughts lead to live-giving behaviors which then lead to good feelings and more positive thoughts.
It leads to an Upward Spiral of Life!
Negative thoughts spiral us down.
Positive thoughts spiral us up.
What would it look like to pursue an Upward Spiral of Life today?
- First, become aware of negative thoughts as they come to mind. (“I’m spiraling down. Stop!”)
- What would it look like to focus on the positive in that moment? (“What’s another way to look at this situation?”)
- What would it look like to express gratitude in the midst of the situation? (“I am thankful for…”)
It takes a bit of discipline to shift our mindset in the moment, but the results are tremendous. You and I have a choice. We can choose to spiral down or spiral up.
